School cancer awareness makes a difference
When Ajit visited his traditional healer about a wound in his inner cheek, he applied a paste of roots and bark. Not realising it was cancerous, Ajit tried to accept the pain that would not go away. That is, until his daughter learnt about cancer at school and realised that might be the problem.
The cancer was sadly too advanced to treat. But the palliative care team were able to relieve his pain, and provide ongoing pain relief, alongside psychological and spiritual support for Ajit and his family.
