‘Love one another…’
Embo Community Church’s Primary Health Care Clinic and Community Caregiver Team – KwaZulu Natal – South Africa
With your support, last year the Embo team were able to provide:
After a year of such stress and loss in South Africa, Embo Clinic and Community Church team member Priscilla opens her heart about what inspires her to keep her going.
Words: Community caregiver Priscilla
In the last year the virus killed a lot of our beloved ones. A lot of people lost jobs and our youth missed out on learning. I’m a widow and my grandchildren are under my care so I had great fear that I could die. Distancing ourselves from patients was hard for the caregivers, too, because we are used to being the hope of our community.
But it has been good to give out so many food parcels and to support patients at the clinic. We have been motivating families to care for their loved ones when they come to collect medication.
We also phone people and pray with them. This is especially important for those who’ve given up hope. It’s inspiring when I see my patients get healthy again and be positive about life.
I do this work because I love to serve my community. I believe this is what Jesus meant when he said ‘Love one another…’
