Twice Gold: “I love serving my community”
Be a beacon of compassion… to the world’s poorest country
There is just one doctor for every 65,000 people in South Sudan. Even where a doctor is available, many people simply can’t afford the cost of the health care they need. South Sudan is one of the poorest countries in the world – an estimated 70% of the population live on less than $2.15 (£1.65) a day, according to the World Bank.
This is why the work of the Martha Clinic is so vital. Dara, the clinic manager, shares, “The clinic is bridging a gap in the health care available here in Yei.
People love to come here to be treated because of the care shown by the staff and because they can get affordable medicines here. I love serving my community.”
The Martha Clinic is doing life-changing work, from providing vaccines to protect children from deadly diseases, to cataract surgery that is giving people their sight back, to supporting pregnant mothers to give birth safely.
